Karan Johar talks candidly about using surrogacy to have children

Karan Johar recently disclosed that she was surrogate mother to her twins, Yash and Roohi.

For those who don’t know, the well-known Bollywood director is co-parenting with his mother, Hiroo Johar, after receiving a girl and a son through surrogacy in 2017.

Karan discussed her mother’s encouragement when he decided to go ahead with the surgical operation in an interview with The Week.

He revealed, “My mother asked me what I planned to do with my life when I was forty because marriage wasn’t in the cards. I confessed to her that I yearned for children.”

His mother “was wonderful [about it], but I was taking my time” to decide, the filmmaker disclosed.

A year later, Karan claimed that her mother reminded him once more. “I only told her about it once the doctors told me that the three months of pregnancy were over,” he continued. Although they arrived in February, the infants were supposed to arrive in April.”

He went on, “Once I realized a few publications were going to publish the story, I had to formally announce their arrival from an aircraft to London. Only a month later could I visit the hospital.”

Professionally, Alia Bhatt and Ranbir Kapoor starred in the hit movie Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani, which marked Karan’s directorial return.
