Ayushmann Khurrana, a Bollywood actor and singer, is shown in a recently circulated video performing the national song “Dil Dil Pakistan” live. The song, which was created and first performed by the Pakistani band Vital Signs in 1987, is regarded by Pakistanis as their “unofficial national anthem.”
Users on both sides of the border had differing perspectives in response to the video, which sparked controversy. Ayushmann was the target of criticism from several Indians who called for a boycott and said he was disrespecting the music.
Subsequent disclosures, however, made it clear that the footage originated from a concert in Dubai in 2017. Ayushmann thanked supporters from all over the country during this occasion, hoping to improve ties between India and Pakistan.
Even with the background given, the backlash was heightened when the video was released, a few days after Ayushmann attended the Ram Mandir ceremony. Ayushmann was among a number of well-known individuals invited to the Ram Temple in Ayodhya’s consecration event.
The time of the video and his recent involvement in the Ram Mandir event caused many on social media to engage in contentious debates and exchange opposing viewpoints.
