Virat Kohli returns to Mumbai "personal emergency"

According to Indian media, Indian batter Virat Kohli returned to Mumbai from Guwahati due to a “personal emergency” as the Men in Blue landed in Trivandrum for their second exhibition match against the Netherlands.

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), according to NDTV, hasn’t said if Kohli will miss the exhibition game.

According to the report, the great batter will be back in time to support his teammates when India takes on The Netherlands on October 2.

He traveled to Mumbai for personal reasons, according to a source with the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI). Virat will shortly re-join the group, a source said Cricbuzz.

The news comes as social media is buzzing with rumors of his wife, Indian actress Anushka Sharma, becoming pregnant.

The power couple is reportedly expecting their second kid and is waiting for the right time to make an official announcement, according to several entertainment outlets in India.

According to the Khaleej Times, it is assumed that the actress has purposefully kept a low profile and limited her public appearances to avoid public attention and stop additional rumors.

These rumors have been going around for a while, but they really took off after Anushka recently shared a festival-related Instagram post in which she was spotted wearing a saree in every picture.

After being married in 2017, Anushka and Kohli welcomed their first child, Vamika, in January 2021.

The first warm-up game between India and England had to be postponed because of the adverse weather in Guwahati. On Tuesday, when they take on the Netherlands, they will have one more chance to evaluate their starting lineup. India and Australia will square off in Chennai on October 8 in the tournament’s opening game.

Hardik Pandya, Shubman Gill, Virat Kohli, Shreyas Iyer, KL Rahul, Ravindra Jadeja, Shardul Thakur, Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammed Siraj, Kuldeep Yadav, Mohammed Shami, Ravichandran Ashwin, Ishan Kishan, and Suryakumar Yadav make up India’s World Cup roster.
