Indus Floods 2025 Water Levels Drop Villages Submerged

Flood Update: Indus River Levels Slowly Recede, Villages Remain Affected

The latest readings from major barrages along the show a gradual easing of floodwaters, though many villages and farmland remain submerged.

At Guddu Barrage, water inflow was recorded at 587,983 cusecs, while the outflow stood at 509,074 cusecs, indicating a steady receding trend. Meanwhile, Sukkur Barrage reported an inflow of 569,890 cusecs against an outflow of 518,120 cusecs. Experts say the river flood at Sukkur has passed its peak and is now slowly going down.

In Naushahro Feroz, the river has been in a medium flood stage, breaking several minor embankments, known locally as Zamindari Bunds, and flooding agricultural lands. The rising water has entered nearby villages, submerging crops and leaving several feet of water standing in farmlands, disrupting local connectivity.

Downstream, Kotri Barrage has seen inflow increase to 304,388 cusecs, with an outflow of 289,098 cusecs. Upstream at Punjnad Headworks, the water level has significantly dropped to 138,050 cusecs, according to official river data.

Authorities continue to monitor the situation closely as communities along the Indus cope with ongoing flood impacts.
