Four Western leaders arrive in Kiev to express unity on the anniversary of the second conflict

On the second anniversary of Russia’s invasion, four Western leaders, including the prime ministers of Italy, Canada, and Belgium, arrived in Kiev on Saturday to demonstrate support for the country.

Giorgia Meloni of Italy, Justin Trudeau of Canada, Alexander De Croo of Belgium, and Ursula von der Leyen, the president of the European Commission, all traveled overnight by train from neighboring Poland to the Ukrainian capital, according to a statement from the Italian government.

Later that day, Meloni was scheduled to conduct a videoconference from Kyiv with leaders of the Group of Seven major democracies. Volodymyr Zelenskiy, the president of Ukraine, was invited to participate in the conversation.
