New York Fashion Week

At his Fall/Winter fashion show, American designer Christian Siriano drew inspiration from the expansive vistas of the science fiction epic Dune. The result was a collection that was firmly anchored in the colors of the desert.

Prior to the formal commencement of New York Fashion Week: The Shows on Friday, models showcased shimmering metallic dresses and draped coats and jackets in earthy browns and reds at the catwalk presentation on Thursday at The Plaza Hotel.

The dresses frequently had thigh-slits, and the male models wore wide-leg pants and cropped jackets. Lamé and iridescent materials gave the outfit a futuristic appearance. What attire would you choose for a gala or cocktail party? .. They seem to have the futurism covered, but how would you dress to look glitzy?” Backstage, Siriano told Reuters. “That’s what I want to give to that world if we had to live there.”

Frank Herbert’s 1965 novel Dune, which is set in a future in which planetary fiefs are ruled by noble families, has been adapted for the big screen multiple times. The most notable ones are the 1984 David Lynch adaptation and the 2021 Denis Villeneuve film, which stars Timothee Chalamet and Zendaya. This month marks the release of its sequel.

Alicia Silverstone and J. Smith-Cameron were among the famous attendees at Siriano’s event, which he said he intended to feature a variety of silhouettes. The presentation begins with a number of exquisitely tailored pieces, excellent pants, and exquisitely cut jackets, Siriano explained. “And then it kind of builds into a really beautiful, more romantic, glamorous evening world.”

“I wanted people to see the range of dressing, and I think that that’s really what my customer is looking for.” Up to February 14 is New York Fashion Week, where over 50 labels will present their collections, such as Tommy Hilfiger, Carolina Herrera, and Brandon Maxwell.
