Sometimes it can be as simple as dreaming about someone you think about during the day, but often the people you see in your dreams can also represent subconscious desires and thoughts. Psychologist Carl Jung believed that dreams acted as a window into the unconscious mind. According to Jung, dreams can present “a spontaneous self-portrayal, in symbolic form, of the actual situation in the unconscious.”
A recurring person who keeps showing up in your dreams could reflect a feeling or desire that has not been successfully resolved in your waking “real” life. Unresolved feelings are uncomfortable and we tend to replay them in our subconscious minds.
People you see in your dreams can also signify the future and something you are excited about. Jung believed dreams can provide prospective images of the future.
Perhaps this person you keep seeing will have a part to play in your future?
So, if someone keeps showing up in your dreams, take a look at where you are in the current phase of your life, and take a look at what this person signifies to you. Do they always make you feel a certain way? What was going on in your life when you first met them? Is there a time you always see this person?
The person you keep seeing in your dream could be a signal. Is there something in your life that they signify? If so, interpret the dream and act.
When you keep seeing the same person in your dream every day, it can be disconcerting at first. Initially, you might think that it is nothing, but then it happens, again and again, every night. Depending on how you view dreams, you may view this as a sign or nothing at all.
Does It Mean Anything If You Keep Seeing the Same Person in Your Dreams?
In some cases, it may mean nothing if you see the same person every night. At their most basic level, dreams are just electrical brain impulses that occur at random.
Random images and thoughts are pulled out of your memories to construct a dream story. According to one theory, these random thoughts don’t even make a dream: you do.
In this theory, humans create a dream story when they wake up as a way of making sense of their dreams.
Some psychologists do believe that dreams may indicate things. Since a dream is made by your subconscious mind, it could indicate your thoughts, feelings, or desires.
In many cases, a dream shows that you are focusing on something for one reason or another. If you keep dreaming about the same person every night, it may be because you are concerned about them or worried.
Often, you will dream about the things that you think about the most. Some people try to think about the same thing (like a crush, a dream car, or becoming rich) every night before they go to sleep because they want to dream about them.
Even though you may have never dreamed or thought about the person before, you had a random dream with them in it. Because of this dream, you wake up thinking about them and continue thinking about the dream the next day.
Because of these thoughts, you end up dreaming about them over and over again, even though they may not have been someone you ever really thought about that often.
What Do They Mean?
There may be a reason why that person came up in your dream initially. Think back to when they were in your life. What did they represent? Did you tend to feel safe, angry, or happy around them?
In some cases, the person represents a feeling that you want or had in your life. You may keep dreaming about them because your subconscious wants you to have that feeling again.
In other cases, the person represents a quality you want in your life. For example, imagine that you continue to dream about a former crush. You don’t like the crush or think about them anymore, but you keep having these dreams.
In this scenario, your subconscious mind may have chosen that crush as a placeholder for someone you would like to meet. You may want love and affection in your life.
Your subconscious chose the crush at random to fill this role because you do not have someone else in your life that could fill it.
You May Just See That Person a Lot
Dreams are pulled from your thoughts and memories, so you are more likely to dream about a place or a person that you encounter frequently.
If you normally spend your day at school, many of your dreams will probably be located in a school or a school-like setting.
If you see someone frequently, then they are more likely to be in your dreams. If this is the case, there is no reason to read too much into your dream because it may just be because of your daily life that it occurred.
According to noted psychologist Carl Jung, dreams are a window into the unconscious mind. In this theory, the dreams are a symbolic form of what is going on in the unconscious.
If you are obsessing about something in your normal life, you may have dreams about the same topic. For example, if you are worried about getting fired or not being good at your job, you may dream about successful friends and feel envious of them. If you want to get a promotion, you may dream that your boss asks you to talk to you.
What Should You Do If You See the Same Person in Your Dreams Every Day?
If you keep seeing the same person in your dreams every day, stop to think about how you see them. Do they represent a certain feeling or event? What happens in the dream?
What was going on in your life when you originally met that person? Is there a normal time when you see that person in your dreams?
What If the Person Is a Stranger?
During your REM dreams, you will often see two or three different people in your dream. Up to half of these people may be unfamiliar to you.
Sometimes, you will see the same stranger in your dreams over and over again. Statistically, strangers in a dream are more likely to be male and they are more likely to behave aggressively. Often, strangers in a dream turn out to be enemies or threatening characters.
If you keep seeing a threatening stranger in your dreams, you may be worried about something. Perhaps you feel like there is some threat to yourself or your family nearby.
You may feel like you need to escape from that situation or person in real life, so you keep dreaming about a threatening stranger every night.
It is important to look at the situation that develops in the dream. A threatening stranger has a far different significance than a reoccurring dream about a kind grandmother. Look at what happens in the dream.
Are you running from the person or greeting them openly? Do they bring you a message or protect you from harm? The circumstances of the dream and what happens are often just as important as who is in it.
By looking at what occurs in your dream, you will be better able to interpret its true meaning. In the end, a dream’s meaning is what you decide it should be.
