Julia Fox on the Crazy Blame Game Targeting WAGs: “It’s Like We’re Supposed to Control the Outcome”
In a recent interview with an international publication, Julia Fox opened up about the unfair scrutiny faced by the wives and girlfriends of athletes. The Uncut Gems star, who plays the influencer wife of a football quarterback in her new film Him, highlighted how women are often blamed for their partners’ losses—citing singer Taylor Swift as a prime example.
“Like, if a guy loses a game, it’s a girl’s ‘fault,’ it’s, like, his girlfriend’s ‘fault.’ It’s just crazy,” Fox said. “All the superstitions and irrational stuff these men believe somehow end up with a woman getting blamed.”
Fox recalled a specific instance involving Travis Kelce, Swift’s now-fiancé. “I remember Travis lost a game, and then people were saying it was Taylor Swift’s fault. It was just like, ‘What? That’s crazy!’ But, you know, blame women—they love to do that.”
She added with a wry tone, “It’s like, oh, I didn’t know we were so powerful. So you’re admitting that we are powerful? So you’re admitting it?”
For context, Kelce and Swift, who began dating in the summer of 2023, announced their engagement just last month.
Meanwhile, Fox’s new horror film Him, directed by Justin Tipping, also stars Marlon Wayans and Tyriq Withers, marking another exciting project for the actress.
