Karachi Shop Raid: AVLC Officials Accused of Harassment and Theft

Karachi: A shocking incident in Karachi’s Lines Area has left a family demanding answers after alleging harassment and theft by AVLC officials.

According to Bilawal, a young man from the area, AVLC officers reportedly raided his family-owned general store on the night of August 19. He claimed that two CIA mobile vans arrived at the shop, harassed his father, Noor Ahmed, and forcibly entered the second section of the store.

Bilawal alleged that the officials took Rs 1.09 million in cash and removed security cameras to erase any evidence of the incident. He further said that his father was forced into a police mobile and held for several days, with the family unable to trace his whereabouts despite searching across Karachi.

Noor Ahmed was eventually returned on the third night at Ajmer Nagri Police Station. When Bilawal demanded the return of the stolen money, he claimed the officials verbally abused him and only returned shop documents, withholding the cash.

Sources revealed that the raid was conducted by the AVLC Ajmer Nagri team, led by DSP Muhammad Khan of New Karachi. The team reportedly included constables Ghazi, Sarfaraz, Bilal, Aamir, Shakeel, Shahzad alias Shah Ji, and a private individual named Jahangir. Four officers were in uniform, while eight to ten others were in plain clothes.

During the illegal detention, Noor Ahmed was allegedly kept on the first floor of the AVLC police station. Following the report, SSP Amjad Sheikh took notice of the matter and directed DSP Admin to carry out an immediate inquiry.

The Karachi police spokesperson confirmed that strict legal action would follow once the investigation is complete.
