Karachi: Child Crushed by Water Tanker, CCTV Footage Surfaces

Karachi – Heartbreaking CCTV footage has emerged from Karachi, capturing the moment a water tanker fled the scene after fatally running over a young boy.

In the video, a child and another man can be seen running after the tanker. The boy, crying and pointing at the vehicle, appeared to identify it as the cause of the tragedy.

According to the victim’s family, the child, identified as Arsalan, had been sitting outside his house waiting for his mother when the speeding tanker struck him. He was the youngest of three siblings.

His grieving mother, who works as a house cleaner to support the family, broke down in tears. “My child was crushed by a water tanker. I want justice. How long will our children keep dying like this?” she cried. She also revealed that her husband is struggling with drug addiction, leaving her as the sole breadwinner.

The family further pointed out that due to Karachi’s chronic water shortage, residents are often forced to rely on private water tankers, which frequently operate recklessly on city roads.

This tragedy comes against the backdrop of alarming traffic statistics in Karachi. Official rescue data shows that 546 people lost their lives in traffic accidents during the first seven months of 2025, while 8,136 others were injured. Among the fatalities were 425 men, 51 women, 51 boys, and 19 girls.

Heavy vehicles played a major role in these accidents. Trailers were responsible for 62 deaths, water tankers for 37, dumpers for 32, and buses for 20 fatalities.

Authorities have once again urged stricter enforcement of traffic rules and stronger road safety measures to prevent such devastating incidents in the future.
