Police Constable Abducted During Vehicle Check in Karachi
KARACHI – A dramatic incident unfolded in DHA Phase 8, Khayaban-e-Arafat, when a police squad stopped a suspicious vehicle during routine checking. Instead of cooperating, the car’s occupants opened fire on the officers and abducted Head Constable Muhammad Ishaq at gunpoint before fleeing the scene.
Police officials said the suspects held Ishaq captive for nearly an hour, driving him around the city before abandoning him near New Sabzi Mandi on the outskirts. The officer later managed to reach Sahil Police Station using an online ride-hailing service.
An FIR has been registered on Ishaq’s complaint, naming four unidentified men. The case carries serious charges, including terrorism, kidnapping, attempted murder, and other offenses.
According to the FIR, when the police approached the suspicious car, four men got out and began shooting. Ishaq returned fire but was overpowered by two suspects, who dragged him into their vehicle. During the scuffle, his official weapon fell, while the attackers continued firing at other officers as they escaped.
The constable told investigators that the kidnappers took away his mobile phone, cash, service ID card, and other personal belongings before releasing him in a deserted area.
Authorities are reviewing CCTV footage and working to trace the vehicle involved. Police say further investigations are in progress.
