Floodwaters Submerge Saadi Town and M-9 Motorway, Residents Face Severe Hardship

Karachi – Saadi Town has emerged as one of the worst-hit areas after floodwaters from Lath Dam and Thaddo Dam surged into residential neighborhoods via the motorway, causing widespread disruption.

Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah visited the area through Malir Cantt to meet residents and assess the situation firsthand. He assured the community of immediate relief efforts and instructed authorities to expedite the drainage of floodwater.

Teams from the Karachi Water and Sewerage Board, Rescue 1122, and Cantonment authorities are actively working to dewater submerged areas and restore normalcy.

Meanwhile, heavy flooding along the M-9 Motorway led to the office of the Motorway South Zone DIG being submerged, with vehicles worth millions trapped under nearly five feet of water. Sources confirmed that vehicles used for motorway patrolling and speed enforcement were among those affected. Employees inside the office were forced to wade through the floodwater, while access roads became impassable.

The flooding not only caused extensive damage to the motorway office but also impacted nearby residential areas. Traffic along the M-9 was suspended, leaving large vehicles stranded on the road overnight.

Authorities continue to work tirelessly to drain the water and restore safety for residents and motorists alike.
