Girl Rescued from Karachi Software House; Eight Arrested After Armed Clash
KARACHI – A girl allegedly held inside a software house in Gulshan-e-Iqbal was rescued after her family rushed to the spot, sparking a violent confrontation, police said on Tuesday.
According to officials, the girl managed to contact her family over the phone. When they arrived, a heated clash broke out as the software house owners allegedly opened fire. Gunshots were exchanged, but no one was injured.
Police confirmed the girl was safely recovered and later announced the arrest of eight suspects, including five armed employees of the call center. Authorities seized two rifles and three pistols from their possession. Six separate FIRs were registered on charges of harassment, wrongful confinement, aerial firing, rioting, and issuing death threats.
The FIR stated that the girl had been working at the call center for three years. Her father alleged that the branch manager, identified as Daniyal, harassed her with inappropriate remarks and obscene behavior. When the victim informed her cousin, he confronted Daniyal, who allegedly responded with threats.
On the day of the incident, the girl was reportedly locked inside the office. As her family attempted to intervene, Daniyal and his accomplices hurled abuse and opened fire. Security guards, identified as Imran and Raza, also joined in the firing.
Police said a rapid response team reached the location after receiving a 15 call and arrested the suspects on the spot.
