Karachi Journalist Shot Near Malir, Remains in Critical Condition

KARACHI – A shocking attack left journalist Imtiaz Mir critically injured near the Kala Board area in Malir on Sunday. Mir, who works for a private TV channel in Karachi, was driving his car when gunmen opened fire on him.

Preliminary investigations suggest that a man and a woman on a motorcycle fired at Mir’s vehicle, striking him in the chest and face. The assailants fled the scene immediately. Rescue teams rushed the journalist to the hospital, where he remains in critical condition.

Police and the Crime Scene Unit are investigating the attack. Two bullet casings have been recovered, and CCTV footage from nearby areas is being collected to track down the attackers.

Sindh Energy Minister Syed Nasir Hussain Shah strongly condemned the attack, calling it not just an assault on Imtiaz Mir but an attack on journalism and humanity. He assured that the government is committed to the protection of journalists and vowed that those responsible will face justice.

Sindh Interior Minister Ziaul Hassan Lanjar has also taken notice, ordering the immediate arrest of the perpetrators and instructing SSP Korangi to submit a detailed report on the incident.

Minister Shah prayed for Mir’s speedy recovery and reiterated that the law will take its course to hold the attackers accountable.
