Law enforcement agencies have initiated operations for the recovery of hostages and the arrest of bandits involved in kidnapping for ransom and other crimes in the area.
Officials have said that scores of hideouts of the outlaws have been burnt and demolished during the operation and arms recovered.
The targeted operation has been launched for the arrest of notorious bandit Belo Teghani, allegedly involved in the recent killing of policeman Munawar Jatoi and other personnel of the department earlier.
The law enforcement personnel have cordoned off the area for the arrest of the fleeing dacoits.
The Katcha area has been notorious for its lawlessness, with bandits armed with sophisticated weapons posing a challenge to law enforcement agencies.
The area remains a significant challenge for local authorities despite numerous operations to combat crime.
Last year on August 23, at least 12 policemen were killed, and seven others were injured in an attack on two police vehicles by dacoits in Rahim Yar Khan’s Katcha area.
The bandits launched a rocket attack on two police vehicles in Machka, Sadiqabad when they became stuck in accumulated rainwater. Approximately 20 officers were present in the vehicles at the time of the attack.
Following the attack, police forces and rescue vehicles from across the district were dispatched to the Katcha area, and authorities declared an emergency throughout the district.
