Severe Flooding Hits Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Leaving Dozens Dead and Hundreds Displaced

Heavy rains, lightning strikes, and a sudden cloudburst have caused severe flooding across parts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, officials say.

In Neel Band village of Battagram, torrential downpours and lightning led to the collapse of five houses, sweeping dozens of residents into the raging waters. Rescue teams have recovered the bodies of six men, two women, and a young girl so far, while at least 18 people remain missing.

Rescue 1122 teams, police, volunteers, and residents are working around the clock to locate those still unaccounted for. Survivors have called on the government to accelerate rescue efforts and provide immediate shelter for families left homeless.

The heavy weather has also impacted Mansehra, where lightning and a cloudburst caused further flooding, resulting in property damage and additional casualties.

In Swat, low-lying areas including Mingora, Malam Jabba, Haji Baba, Khwazakhela, and Marghazar have been submerged. Hundreds of homes are underwater, and access to several communities has been cut off. Many residents, particularly women and children, have taken refuge on rooftops, while others are evacuating on their own amid the worsening conditions.

Authorities continue to monitor the situation closely as relief efforts are intensified across the affected regions.
