Five Killed in KP Helicopter Crash While Delivering Relief Supplies
PESHAWAR – Tragedy struck on August 15 when a government MI-17 helicopter crashed while carrying relief supplies to Salarzai in Bajaur, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, claiming the lives of all five personnel on board, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) confirmed.
The martyrs included Pilot Major Atif, Co-Pilot Major Faisal, Naib Subedar Maqbool, Havaldar Jahangir, and Naik Aamir.
Officials said the helicopter lost contact while flying over Mohmand due to adverse weather conditions. Despite immediate efforts to re-establish communication, all five crew members were martyred in the crash.
KP Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur expressed deep sorrow over the incident and stated that all possible measures had been taken to restore contact with the aircraft. Rescue teams were promptly dispatched to the crash site under his orders.
The black box of the helicopter has since been recovered, which authorities hope will provide more clarity on the circumstances surrounding the crash.
