KRK Calls Aamir Khan’s ‘Sitaare Zameen Par’ a Box Office Flop, Moves Film to YouTube

Bollywood’s outspoken critic and trade analyst Kamaal R Khan, popularly known as KRK, has stirred controversy once again. In a recent video, he claimed that Aamir Khan’s sports drama Sitaare Zameen Par, directed by R. S. Prasanna and released in theatres this June, has failed at the box office.

According to KRK, Aamir Khan turned down a lucrative Rs 10 crore offer from Zee for the film’s rights and instead opted to release it on YouTube through a pay-per-view model, priced at Rs 100 per view. KRK said the actor hoped to challenge streaming giants like Amazon and Netflix and expected the movie to earn between Rs 200–300 crore via the platform.

However, KRK claims the film has only attracted around a million viewers so far. “Khan then reduced the price to Rs 50 per view, which means he earns just Rs 25 per viewer,” KRK said, labeling the actor a “beggar” and adding that he has been “begging people for Rs 25.”

For context, Sitaare Zameen Par is considered a spiritual successor to Aamir’s 2007 hit Taare Zameen Par and features Genelia Deshmukh. The film, an official remake of the Spanish movie Champions, follows Gulshan Arora, a suspended basketball coach, who is required to complete community service by training a team of players with disabilities for an upcoming tournament.
