Terrorist Attack Foiled in Lakki Marwat as Police and Forces Crush Cross-Border Threats
LAKKI MARWAT / NORTH WAZIRISTAN – Security forces and local police successfully foiled two separate terrorist attacks in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, showcasing Pakistan’s unwavering resolve against militancy.
In the first incident, 10 to 12 armed terrorists attempted to storm the Gambila police station in Lakki Marwat late Thursday night. According to the police spokesperson, the attackers had taken fortified positions and were preparing for an assault. However, alert police personnel noticed suspicious movements and acted swiftly, forcing the militants to retreat. No casualties were reported, and all police officers at the station remained safe.
Inspector General of Police (IGP) Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Zulfiqar Hameed, praised the bravery and professionalism of the Lakki Marwat police team. At the same time, Regional Police Officer (RPO) Bannu, Sajjad Khan, also commended the prompt response that averted what could have been a deadly attack.
Meanwhile, in a separate and more intense encounter, Pakistan Army forces neutralized 30 militants from the Indian-backed group ‘Fitna Al-Khawarij’ during a counter-infiltration operation near the Pak-Afghan border in Hassan Khel, North Waziristan, according to Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR).
The Indian-sponsored terrorists were intercepted while attempting to infiltrate Pakistani territory and were eliminated in a decisive military operation. A large stockpile of weapons, ammunition, and explosives was recovered from the site.
ISPR emphasized that Pakistan’s security forces remain fully prepared to counter any cross-border terrorism threats. The military’s response not only underscores operational readiness but also highlights the country’s firm commitment to eliminating foreign-sponsored militancy.
The ISPR further urged the interim Afghan government to stop the use of its soil for terrorist activities against Pakistan, particularly by proxies supported by hostile nations. The statement reiterated that regional peace can only be achieved by denying such elements any safe haven.
