An international brand introduces a bag that is 99% air and 1% glass

Coperni stunned everyone during the Fall 2024 Paris Fashion Week by revealing a unique handbag composed primarily of air. The outcome of a special partnership with NASA was this unusual bag, known as the Air Swipe bag.

NASA frequently uses silica aerogel, a material that is extremely light, to create the Air Swipe bag. It is very light, just as light as a regular lightbulb, composed of 99% air and 1% glass. Surprisingly robust, the bag can tolerate harsh environments like intense heat and pressure despite its delicate nature.

To create this remarkable item, designers Sébastien Meyer and Arnaud Vaillant collaborated with a visual artist and a researcher who specializes in silica aerogel. To acquire the perfect design, they had to make fifteen attempts.

Despite the bag’s resemblance to Coperni’s classic Swipe bag, some admirers questioned its capacity. Coperni convinced everyone that an iPhone can fit inside.

Coperni has already caused a stir with its avant-garde inventions. They have previously displayed costumes painted on women and even included robotic canines in their runway presentations. This season, all the designs are futuristic and alien, stretching the boundaries.
