Sonya Hussyn shares her unintentional journey into acting

Actress Sonya Hussyn shared information about her unwavering relationship with her family and the most embarrassing event of her career during a recent visit on Shan e Suhoor. Sonya remembered how her top broke during the Hum Awards in 2022 while she was wearing a gorgeous pink sequined sari.

“Oh my God,” said the Saraab star, flushing at the memory and hiding her face with her hands. “I had no idea what to do! I was unsure about the consequences of getting up! I was then instructed that I had to go sing in front of everyone by someone.

With her mind a blank canvas, Sonya thought of how she hastily wrapped her sari around herself as best she could and headed for the stage. She recalls, “I couldn’t think of a single song.” “Bismillah was the only thought that was on my mind.”

Sonya looked humiliated as she blurted out the first song that came to her, Dil Dil Pakistan, and encouraged the audience to join in, all while a horde of cameras were focused on her and their faces were lit up with anticipation. With quick thinking, she pulled singer Atif Aslm onto the stage in front of raucous cheers after seeing him in the front row. Sonya’s strategy was effective as the focus quickly shifted from her to Atif’s powerful vocals.

Sonya had never envisaged herself standing in front of a crowd at a televised award presentation when she was a youngster. Since no one in her family had experience in performing, Sonya had always wanted a more conventional job. Sonya said that she had previously intended to become a physiologist and had started off studying physiology. If it didn’t work out, she had always wanted to be a commercial pilot since she loved to travel. On the other hand, her father had expressed his desire for her to pursue a career in politics or as a TV news anchor. But one day, Sonya’s life took a turn for the worst when her pals pulled her to an audition.

“I ended up going with my friends because I was doing my Matric at the time,” the woman remarked. “A week later, I received a call informing me that the director had liked my face and wanted to cast me in something, even though I didn’t get the audition.”

From there, in 2011, Sonya started her career in television when she was cast in a supporting part in Dareecha. Sonya, who shared a sofa with her sisters Sana and Saima, talked kindly of her strong relationship with her family. “We are not envious of one another,” she declared. “We do tell each other everything because we know we can.”

The sisters talked about how they exchange advice on everything from fitness to fashion. Sonya said that Sana aspires to pursue her own acting career and that she is always there to mentor and review her scripts.

With gratitude, Sana remarked, “Sonya has been in this field for a while, so she knows what she is doing.”

Although she claimed that up-and-coming performers lack enthusiasm, Sonya intends to one day pursue a career in directing in addition to performing. If I were to become a director, “I would concentrate on theater actors because they are really committed to their craft,” the woman remarked.

Sonya wants to take on more roles than only directing. Even after her embarrassing wardrobe mishap in public in Canada, the actor’s affection for saris hasn’t grown. “One day, I hope to operate a sari business,” she declared. “I would love to make my own designs, but I feel like we have limited options.”

There is one thing that is certain. Sonya may one day enchant the country with her own line of apparel, knowing she can always rely on her sisters’ support.
