In the most recent season of Bridgerton on Netflix, Luke Newton talked openly about getting ready to accept the lead role.
The Hollywood Reporter was informed by Newton, who plays Colin Bridgerton in the show, that Jonathan Bailey, the show’s second season’s director, served as an inspiration for him to take on the part.
At the New York City blue carpet on Monday, he told the publication, “I watched Johnny like a hawk in season two and how he just sort of conducted himself so graciously uncertain and tried to take elements of that and also keep it true to myself, and you know, just focus on the character really.”
Newton also revealed that, in spite of Bailey’s hectic schedule—which included filming the Wicked movie alongside Fellow Travelers—he always made time to visit him.
“I simply consider myself extremely fortunate that the three of us—including Lukie T [Luke Thompson]—kind of have a fraternal bond,” he remarked. “Johnny has been present throughout.”
The love tale of Colin and Penelope Featherington will be the main topic of discussion in the third season of the Julia Quinn novel adaptation.
