Netflix’s demise for Harry and Meghan as the Beckhams take center stage

Meghan Markle and Prince Harry are having difficulty competing with the Beckhams.

The Sussexes had a multimillion-dollar contract that controlled Netflix and was scheduled to expire in 2025. However, according to the Daily Express, their popularity fell off in 2023.

Only 1.9 million views and 12.6 million total views were received by the couple’s series, “Harry & Meghan: Limited Series Volumes I and II,” in the second half of the year. In sharp contrast, David and Victoria Beckham, who were friends before becoming rivals, had their documentary ranked as the most watched worldwide between July and December, with an astounding 43.9 million views.

According to the Daily Mail, the Beckhams’ documentary “Beckham” is the most popular, having garnered 208.5 million hours of viewing in just the first two months, or 3.5 times the number of viewers. The documentary about the Sussexes was popular at first, but viewer interest has since declined.

Richard Fitzwilliams, a royal analyst, talked about the Sussexes’ Netflix partnership with The Mirror. He mentioned that the Netflix cancellation of “The Crown” might have an impact on the contract, which is up for renewal next year, implying that the streaming behemoth may now be less interested in the Sussexes.
