A few weeks before the fourth season of the comedic superhero series “The Boys” debuted on Prime Video, the show was renewed.
Amazon’s main streaming service, Prime Video, has renewed the comic book adaption starring Garth Ennis and Darick Robertson for a fifth season.
The announcement of the renewal comes a few weeks before The Boys’ fourth season premiere on June 13 and aligns with Amazon’s first upfronts.
Vernon Sanders, head of television at Amazon MGM Studios, said, “We are proud of this series that has grown into a global franchise, and we are thrilled that [showrunner] Eric Kripke and the creative team have more engaging stories to tell for all the loyal fans.”
Sanders went on, “The Boys is an unapologetically audacious series that keeps enthralling our viewers worldwide by piercing the cultural fabric season after season.”
When new episodes of The Boys are released, the show routinely appears in Nielsen’s top 10 streaming series, demonstrating its popularity on Prime Video.
Sony Pictures Television is producing the series in association with Neal H. Moritz’s Original Film, Amazon MGM Studios, Kripke Enterprises, Point Grey Pictures (Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg), and Neal H. Moritz.
Rogen, Goldberg, James Weaver, Moritz, Pavun Shetty, Phil Sgriccia, Michaela Starr, Paul Grellong, David Reed, Meredith Glynn, Judalina Neira, Ken F. Levin, and Jason Netter are among the executive producers of The Boys, which Kripke produced.
Actors including Karl Urban, Antony Starr, Jack Quaid, Erin Moriarty, Laz Alonso, and Cameron Crovetti will return for the fourth season of the show.
Jeffrey Dean Morgan, Valorie Curry, and Susan Heyward will also be joining the cast.
