According to the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR), the Large Taxpayers Office (LTO) Karachi did a great job. It collected Rs184.78 billion in one day, which is the highest amount ever collected in a single day in Pakistan.
In June 2025, LTO Karachi collected Rs449.05 billion in taxes. This is 48% more than what it collected in June 2024.
This success happened under the leadership of the Chief Commissioner, and LTO Karachi broke all its previous records.
For the whole financial year 2024–25, LTO Karachi collected 29% more tax compared to the previous year. This makes it the best-performing tax office in the country.
The FBR also praised the people and businesses of Karachi for paying taxes properly. Karachi is now ahead of all other regions in tax collection.
FBR fails to meet FY 2024–25 tax collection target
Earlier this month, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif told officials to work with top international audit firms to make sure that FBR reforms are reliable and verified by outsiders.
He also asked officials to keep checking the progress of ongoing reforms and improvements in the FBR.
The Prime Minister said that the government is fully committed to making things transparent and keeping the economy stable. He asked for quick action on reforms in all departments.
PM Shehbaz also said he is happy with the faceless customs assessment system, which has helped collect more tax and speed up the process of clearing goods.
