Mahnoor Cheema Sets Records, Earns Place at Oxford to Study Medicine

Mahnoor Cheema’s extraordinary academic achievements have earned her a spot at Exeter College, University of Oxford, where she is set to begin her medicine degree this October.

Describing the offer as “a dream come true,” Mahnoor shared her excitement about starting the next chapter of her educational journey.

Her father, Barrister Usman Cheema, praised her dedication and passion, highlighting that her accomplishments not only set four world records but also serve as an inspiration to students around the globe.

Earlier this year, Mahnoor made headlines after passing an astonishing total of 34 subjects at the General Certificate of Secondary Education (GCSE) level, setting an unprecedented record both in the United Kingdom and internationally. She initially passed 17 subjects with A* grades as a private candidate in Year 10 and later added 17 more subjects, bringing her total to 34.

This record-breaking achievement comes amid rising A-level success rates across the UK, though exam boards have noted that regional inequalities in results are growing. Students in England, Wales, and Northern Ireland recently received their A-level, T-level, and BTEC results, determining university placements for many.

According to the Joint Council for Qualifications (JCQ), over a quarter (28.3%) of A-level entries this year received an A or A* grade, up slightly from 27.8% last year, reflecting continued academic excellence nationwide.
