Marquez Leads Argentina Practice as Ducati’s Bagnaia Struggles

In a thrilling start to the Argentine MotoGP weekend, factory Ducati rider Marc Marquez set the pace in practice, clocking a 1:37.956 lap and finishing the session comfortably ahead of his rivals.

KTM test rider Pol Espargaro, who had previously familiarized himself with the circuit ahead of the race, secured second place, while rising star Pedro Acosta continued his strong form with a solid third, just 0.570 seconds off Marquez’s best time.

Honda’s Luca Marini took fourth, followed closely by Gresini’s Alex Marquez and Aprilia’s Marco Bezzecchi. VR46 Ducati’s Franco Morbidelli recovered from two crashes to finish seventh, escaping injury.

Enea Bastianini claimed eighth for Tech3 KTM, sharing an identical lap time with rookie Fermin Aldeguer. Jorge Martin rounded out the top ten despite his Aprilia RS-GP suffering a dramatic engine failure during the session.

Fabio Quartararo and Fabio Di Giannantonio took 11th and 12th, respectively, just ahead of Pramac Yamaha’s Jack Miller. Johann Zarco was the next highest Honda in 14th, while factory Ducati’s Francesco Bagnaia surprisingly struggled, finishing 15th.

Trackhouse Racing’s Raul Fernandez and Ai Ogura came in 16th and 17th, with Alex Rins and Brad Binder closing out the session, lapping roughly two seconds off the leader’s pace.

Practice in Argentina has set the stage for an unpredictable weekend, with Marquez in strong form and several riders eager to make up lost ground.
