Sadiq Khan claims, "I am being attacked because I am Muslim and Pakistani"

Mayor of London Sadiq Khan claims that prominent Conservative leaders have launched racist and Islamophobic attacks against him because he is a Muslim of Pakistani descent, with the support of Prime Minister Rishi Sunak.

The mayor of London stated in an interview with Geo News that he is certain as to why prominent Conservatives like Suella Braverman, Lee Anderson, Lizz Truss, and others have made erroneous and harmful allegations about him and British Muslims.

Anderson, the former deputy chairman of the Tory Party, asserted that the “Islamists” were in charge of Khan, while Braverman asserted that the “Islamists” were in charge of Britain.

“It’s very unfortunate that the Conservative party is spreading conspiracy theories claiming that Islamists are in control of me,” Khan stated. These accusations against Muslims are defamatory and false.

“I can assure you that these accusations would not have been made if I were not a Muslim and a Pakistani. The claims that Muslims are gaining control of London, that London is becoming Londonistan, and that there is an Islamization of London are all highly dangerous and incorrect.

The purpose of these accusations is to instill fear of Muslims in non-Muslim populations. The truth is that Muslims have assimilated into society, we speak the language, attend colleges and universities for education, work, and pay taxes. Then, we ask ourselves, “What will it take for us to be accepted?”

Sunak has declined to label the comments as racist or Islamophobic, despite Labour Mayor Khan’s persistent requests for the prime minister to do so.

Khan claimed that instead of stating unequivocally that these remarks made by their leaders are racist, Islamophobic, and anti-Muslim, Prime Minister Sunak and his cabinet should have done so out of fear.

“We say that anything that is anti-Semitic or wrong is anti-Semitic,” he stated. We also decry bigotry and misogyny. Then why does no one claim that attacks against Muslims and Britons of Pakistani descent are Islamophobic and anti-Muslim?

Khan claimed that although Anderson’s anti-Islamic remarks were uttered more than a week ago, the government as a whole has refrained from using the term.

It is possible to argue that this is anti-Muslim even if you disagree with the term “Islamophobic.” Rishi Sunak should know better, which is why this is really regrettable, he continued, pleading with the PM to cease treating Muslims and Pakistanis unfairly.

The Conservatives and Zac Goldsmith “ran a highly Islamophobic and racist campaign against me,” according to Khan, who wrote a superb report on the subject in 2016.

“I’m afraid that everything is repeating itself because the local council elections in May are quickly approaching, and the Conservatives are using this tactic to frighten voters by claiming that Sadiq Khan is a Pakistani Muslim. In order to get votes based on fear and hatred, they are projecting lies and Islamophobia ahead of the general election that will take place next year.

According to Khan, the senior Tory figures who are disparaging Muslims are mainstream politicians rather than radicals.

“The last Prime Minister before Rishi Sunak was Lizz Truss, the last Home Secretary was Suella Braverman, and the last Deputy Chairman of the Tory party was Lee Anderson,” he stated.

This is the mainstream Conservative party spreading hate speech directed towards Muslims. Lizz Truss concurred with Donald Trump’s right-hand guy that Tommy Robinson is a hero. Tommy Robinson is the same person who served time in prison for his racist views and other actions.

Khan denounced Braverman for his ongoing attacks against Muslims.

Suella Braverman says that Britain has been taken over by the Islamists,” declared the Mayor of London. I ask her how and where, whether it’s in the media, the House of Commons, the Supreme Court, or the House of Lords. I beg of you all to get even instead of getting angry. These attacks are an attempt to prevent us from participating in voting, so we need to set up a registration and a vote. Being involved in politics is more crucial than ever for Muslims.

Khan is 25 points ahead of his Conservative opponent in the most recent YouGov survey, but he stated he is unconcerned about the results and thinks that getting as many people as possible to cast ballots is the only way to win.

Gun crimes, burglaries, and homicides had decreased over his two stints as mayor of London, he claimed, “but I am not complacent and I still believe that they are too high.”

When there is a Labour Prime Minister in the center and a Labour London Mayor, he claimed, he will be able to accomplish more for London.
