Mohammad Rizwan, the wicketkeeper-batsman for Pakistan, dedicated his team’s victory over Sri Lanka in the ICC World Cup match to the Palestinians who have to endure constant Israeli airstrikes in retaliation for Hamas attacks.
In India’s Hyderabad, Pakistan overcame Sri Lanka by six wickets on Tuesday by chasing down a record-breaking 345 in 48.2 overs.
With the help of Abdullah Shafique (113), who opened the scoring, and Rizwan’s 131 unbeaten runs, the team was able to chase down the intimidating 345-run mark with 10 balls remaining.
“This was for our Gazan relatives, brothers and sisters. On X, formerly Twitter, Rizwan posted, “Happy to contribute to the victory.
The star batter credited the whole team for the victory “and especially Abdullah Shafique and Hassan Ali for making it easier”.
Rizwan also expressed gratitude to the Indian fans saying, “Extremely grateful to the people of Hyderabad for the amazing hospitality and support throughout.”
