Anger among fans as Karan Johar ignores Fawad Khan in the ‘Ae Dil Hai Mushkil’ tribute

Karan Johar ignores Fawad Khan in the 'Ae Dil Hai Mushkil' tribute

Karan Johar surprised fans to a series of Instagram photos featuring the actors of Ae Dil Hai Mushkil on Friday, taking them on a trip down memory lane. The images showed off candid shots from the 2016 set with Aishwarya Rai, Anushka Sharma, and Ranbir Kapoor.

In a touching caption, Karan said, “The experience of filming ADHM was one of my best on-set experiences.” He went on to compliment the three performers’ skill and dedication to their parts in the caption, saying, “Anushka and Ranbir were such a delight to direct. Aishwarya gave Saba such grace, elegance, and beauty, and it was always my dream to direct her.”

The director discussed how he “got to know and understand “the Ranbir process” and deeply respect it” in the same statement. He went on to talk about how the process of filming brought him and the actor closer. “I got to know and love him as a person and appreciate his detachment from stardom or movie star trappings,” he stated.

The director of Rocky Aur Rani Ki Prem Kahani posted the image, and fans began reliving the movie in the comments section right away. But many were disappointed when they saw that Fawad’s name was absent from the memo and turned to the comments section to voice their displeasure.

“The caption is so beautiful, but not a single line for Fawad?” a commenter on Instagram said. Karan, why?” “How smoothly you skipped over mentioning Fawad Khan,” a another user commented. It couldn’t have been that harmful, right? I’m not happy being in Lahore.”

When it comes to his working connection with Fawad, Karan has been controversial in the past. The Student of the Year director quietly intimated in 2017 that he would not be interested to working with Fawad (and likely other Pakistani artists) in the future during a session with two-time Academy Award winner Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy.

“It was a difficult period for me. When Sharmeen expressed her want to see him helm Fawad once more, Karan responded, “I don’t think I would want to repeat that experience ever again.” Karan went on to express his wish that Fawad will discover the ideal stage on which to display his abilities. “I think highly of Fawad’s ability. As an actor, he is quite productive, therefore like you [Sharmeen], I hope and wish he finds the finest venues.

Sonam Kapoor and her siblings played a game of rapid fire on Koffee with Karan later in 2018. The former was asked who she thinks works well together on television. Sonam responded sharply to her brother Harshvardhan’s suggestion for Fawad, saying, “But Karan sent him back!”

Karan regarded the words with a horrified expression. Sonam responded with Salman Khan when he requested for another name, choosing not to address the issue further.
