'Romeo & Juliet' on the West End will be directed by Tom Holland

Tom Holland will play a character who is in love when he returns to the theater.

Jamie Lloyd is the director of the next Romeo and Juliet West End play, which the 27-year-old actor will star in.

On Saturday, May 11, the play will open at the Duke of York’s Theatre and continue through the first week of August.

“Tom Holland is one of the greatest, most exciting young actors in the world,” said Llyod, expressing his excitement at having the Uncharted star on board, while announcing the casting. It is a privilege to have him return to the West End.

In 2008, Holland made his Broadway debut in a supporting role in Billy Elliot the Musical, and that same year, he was elevated to the lead part.

The news follows the actor’s unusual social media statement on Tuesday, February 6, wherein he hinted at a “big announcement.”

The Spider-Man: No Way Home actor uploaded a video of himself on a golf course on Monday, writing, “Big announcement tomorrow!” as the comment.

Regarding the possible revelation, conjecture abounded; some individuals surmised that it had anything to do with Spider-Man’s destiny inside the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

To the dismay of superhero enthusiasts, however, it may take them longer to find out what becomes of the character.
