MTV VMAs Celebrate Music’s Biggest Night with Star-Studded Wins and Show-Stopping Performances
The 2025 MTV Video Music Awards brought Hollywood’s biggest music stars together for a night of glitz, glamour, and unforgettable performances. Hosted by rapper LL Cool J, the ceremony saw artists including Mariah Carey, Doechii, Coldplay, Shakira, Tyla, Bruno Mars, Charli XCX, The Weeknd, Miley Cyrus, and Tate McRae take to the stage, alongside top winners Ariana Grande, Sabrina Carpenter, and Lady Gaga.
The evening featured spectacular performances by Post Malone, Alex Warren, Conan Gray, and a moving tribute to the late heavy metal legend Ozzy Osbourne, performed by YUNGBLUD, Nuno Bettencourt, and Aerosmith’s Steven Tyler and Joe Perry.
Ariana Grande emerged as one of the night’s biggest winners, taking home two awards, including the coveted Video of the Year for Brighter Days Ahead and Best Pop. “Art has been a safe space for me since I was a kid. I’m so grateful I get to do this,” Grande said while accepting her Moon Person trophy.
Leading the nominations with twelve nods, the Joker 2 star walked away with four awards, including Best Direction and Art Direction for Abracadabra, Best Collaboration with Bruno Mars for Die With a Smile, and Artist of the Year, beating heavyweights like Beyoncé, Taylor Swift, Bad Bunny, Kendrick Lamar, The Weeknd, and Morgan Wallen. “I cannot begin to tell you what this means—to be rewarded for being an artist, for doing something that is already so rewarding,” she remarked. Her win also kept Beyoncé and Swift, each with 30 Moon Persons, from becoming the most-honoured artists in VMA history.
Rising star Sabrina Carpenter also shone, taking home three awards, including Best Album for Short n’ Sweet and Best Pop Artist, surpassing major names like Ariana Grande, Miley Cyrus, Justin Bieber, Charli XCX, Lorde, and Tate McRae. “I really don’t take for granted when you guys take the time out of your lives to listen to an album,” Carpenter said on stage. “I’m just the luckiest girl in the world.”
Other standout moments included Mariah Carey receiving the Video Vanguard Award for her lifelong contributions to music and K-pop sensation Rosé of BLACKPINK winning Song of the Year for her collaboration with Bruno Mars, Apt.
The night was a celebration of music, artistry, and unforgettable moments, marking another iconic chapter in VMA history.
