Muharram Ban Bikes & Weapons

Muharram Ban Bikes & Weapons

A spokesperson from the provincial home department has announced that pillion riding — which means riding on a motorcycle with another person sitting behind the driver — will not be allowed in the entire province on the 9th and 10th of Muharram. This step is being taken to maintain peace and order during the days when many religious gatherings and processions take place.

However, the ban will not apply to everyone. According to the spokesperson, elderly citizens and women will be allowed to ride as passengers on motorcycles during these two days. This exemption is being given for their ease and convenience.

In addition to the ban on pillion riding, the home department has also said that from the 1st to the 10th of Muharram, no one will be allowed to carry or display weapons or explosives in public places. This rule has been made to prevent any kind of violence or danger during this sensitive period.

The authorities have also made it clear that shouting provocative slogans, making hateful speeches, or giving statements that can create tension or incite violence will not be allowed under the law. Strict action will be taken against anyone who breaks these rules.

These measures are part of the government’s efforts to ensure safety and peace during Muharram, especially during the major religious events on the 9th and 10th.
