AR Murugadoss Blames Language Barrier for ‘Sikandar’ Failure

Famous South Indian director AR Murugadoss has spoken about why his Bollywood film Sikandar failed at the box office. He believes that not fully understanding the Hindi language caused the film to flop.

Murugadoss, who is known in Bollywood for hits like Ghajini, Holiday, and Akira, said, “When we make movies in our language, we are more confident. But when it comes to Hindi, we get lost in translation.”

He explained that after writing the script, it is first translated into English and then into Hindi. “We don’t know exactly what is being said. Making a film in a language we don’t fully understand feels like we are handicapped,” he said during a media event for his new Tamil action film Madharasi.

The director also said he is open to making Telugu films, but not Hindi films anymore. “We don’t know what young people like in Hindi cinema. All we have is a script to believe in.”

Sikandar, which starred Salman Khan, Rashmika Mandanna, Kajal Aggarwal, and others, was a big-budget action film. But despite the star cast, the film received poor reviews and did not perform well in cinemas.
