NADRA Issues Step-by-Step Guide for Correcting Parents’ Names on CNIC

ISLAMABAD – The National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) has released a detailed procedure to help citizens correct their parents’ names on their Computerized National Identity Cards (CNICs).

According to NADRA, applicants must first visit their nearest NADRA Registration Center (NRC) to initiate the correction process. Upon arrival, citizens will receive a token and undergo biometric verification before their case is processed.

An officer at the center will then handle the correction request. Applicants are required to mention the incorrect and correct versions of their parents’ names, ensuring that the spellings are accurate. If necessary, a fresh photograph and signature will also be taken.

Once the application form is submitted, the center in charge will review it, and applicants will be informed about the applicable processing fee, which varies depending on whether they choose standard or urgent service. A tracking slip will also be issued to monitor the progress of the application.

NADRA officials confirmed that applicants will be notified via message once the correction has been processed. At that stage, they must return to the registration center with their slip to collect the updated CNIC.

For the correction process, biometric verification of the parent (if alive) is required. In cases where the parent is deceased, the biometric testimony of one sibling is needed if the parent’s name is correctly listed on their CNIC. If both parents are deceased, testimony from two siblings is mandatory.

The processing time for corrections depends on the service type selected.
