Applications are currently being accepted for Slovakia’s National Scholarship Program (NSP) 2024–2025. This program, funded by the Ministry of Education, Science, Research, and Sport of the Slovak Republic, offers an incredible opportunity for international students. It allows them to continue their higher studies at renowned institutions in Slovakia. The scholarship is open to Master’s and PhD students, university teachers, researchers, and artists from around the world.
Slovakia Scholarship Coverage and Benefits
The NSP is a fully-funded scholarship. It covers most of the expenses for international students during their stay in Slovakia. Although it may not cover everything, it provides substantial financial support. The scholarship includes:
Living Costs: The scholarship covers living expenses, including food and accommodation.
University students: €650 per month.
PhD students: €1,025.50 per month.
Travel Allowance: The travel allowance varies based on the distance from the student’s home country to Slovakia:
- Up to 200 km: €0
- 200-300 km: €50
- 300-500 km: €100
- 500-1,000 km: €250
- 1,000-2,000 km: €350
- 2,000-3,000 km: €500
- 3,000-5,000 km: €750
- 5,000-7,000 km: €1,100
- Over 7,000 km: €1,500
University Teachers, Researchers, and Artists:
- Without a PhD and less than 4 years of experience: €734 per month.
- With a PhD and less than 10 years of experience: €980 per month.
- With a PhD and more than 10 years of experience: €1,050 per month.
Duration of the Scholarship
The duration of the scholarship varies depending on the applicant’s status:
For Students: 1-2 full semesters (4-5 or 9-10 months) or 1-3 trimesters (3-4, 6-7, or 9-10 months).
PhD Students: 1–10 months.
For University Teachers, Researchers, and Artists: 1–10 months.
Eligibility Criteria
To be eligible for the National Scholarship Program, applicants must meet the following criteria:
- Applicants from all over the world are eligible.
- Must be enrolled at universities outside Slovakia. Note that this scholarship is not for full-time Bachelor, Master, or PhD degree programs. It is intended for students pursuing the second level of higher education (Master’s students) or those who have completed at least 2.5 years of university studies in the same program.
