Raveena Tandon is attacked by a mob

Raveena Tandon, the romantic heroine of 90s Bollywood, was enmeshed in controversy when a mob on X went viral and accused her driver of causing a road rage incident in Bandra, Mumbai. It also showed the group attacking Tandon in front of her house.

Reports surfaced after the video went viral, alleging that the actor and her driver had been the subject of a police complaint alleging they were intoxicated. Nevertheless, a thorough investigation that included looking through CCTV footage of the incident showed that the disputed car did not injure or touch any members of the complainant’s family. According to Hindustan Times, the police ruled that the case was fabricated and that neither the driver nor the actor was intoxicated. Tandon was not prosecuted.

The incident was described in detail by Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Rajtilak Roshan in a statement to NDTV India. Tandon’s driver was taking her back to her house in Bandra in her car. The driver was seen on CCTV reversing the vehicle and navigating it into her house. He was apparently asked to be careful by a group of women who were passing by, stating that he might have hit someone.

“In the purported video, the complainant made a false complaint. After reviewing all of the society’s CCTV footage, we discovered that while the family was crossing the same lane, the actor’s driver was reversing the vehicle from the road into the society. An argument broke out between them after the family stopped the vehicle and advised the driver to look behind him before reversing,” according to the DCP.

Then Tandon left her house to help her driver. The women’s family members had gathered by now. The relatives claimed in the video that the driver struck a few of the women, one of whom claimed to have a nosebleed. When Tandon attempted to soothe them, he was shoved aside and begged, “Don’t hit me.”

The DCP went on to say, “Abusive language was used in this argument. The driver was being abused by the mob, despite the actor’s best efforts to shield her. Tandon went to the Khar police station with the family and both of them filed written complaints. Afterwards, both of them sent in letters declaring that they wished to file no complaints.
