After making a joke about Taylor Swift at the Golden Globes, Emma Stone, who has been friends with the singer for a long time, seems to be met with criticism from Swifties.
Stone, 35, was questioned about remarks she made behind the scenes after winning best actress in a musical or comedy for the film in an interview with Variety. She was interviewed with director Yorgos Lanthimos of the film Poor Things.
“After seeing headlines that truly took it out of context, I won’t make a joke like that again,” Stone said to the publication.
She said, “What a dope,” and gestured to herself.
When Stone received the prize for Poor Things at the 2023 Golden Globes, which were held earlier in January 2024, the Anti-Hero musician cheered her on with gusto.
That evening, Stone was questioned about her feelings over Swift’s response to her victory at a backstage news conference.
What a bastard, do I have this right? Stone remarked with her trademark deadpan humor. We’ve been friends for nearly 20 years. She was there, which made me extremely happy, and tonight she was nominated, which was fantastic. Indeed, what a jackass.”
Swift was nominated for a Golden Globe while Stone took up the prize for her performance as Bella Baxter in the oddball comedy.
Barbie was the recipient of the Oscar for Best Picture and Best Box Office Performance for Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour musical video.
After meeting at the Young Hollywood Awards in 2008, Swift and Stone have been pals ever since.
