Jemima Goldsmith and her kids declare their endorsement of PTI candidates

While more than 128 million people prepare to choose their representatives in Pakistan’s general elections on February 8, the ex-wife of imprisoned former prime minister Imran Khan, Jemima Goldsmith, and her sons, Kasim Khan and Suleman Khan, announced on Wednesday that they were endorsing the candidates of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf (PTI).

Kasim, the son of Khan, posted on social media, saying that tomorrow is a significant day for Pakistan. Voting matters. To demonstrate your support, as soon as you can, publish a picture or a video saying “I voted PTI” along with the hashtag #votePTI! Pakistan Zindabad!”

It was only after Jemima reposted Kasim’s message from his unverified account to her millions of followers that it became public knowledge.

In both Urdu and English, Kasim Khan tweeted a photo of himself and his older brother Suleman Khan, the two of them clutching the PTI flag while pleading for votes on February 8.

Jemima Goldsmith posted the same image of Kasim and Suleman waving the PTI flag along with the words, “Pakelection 8th February.” Jemima removed her social media post on X, which was once Twitter, ten minutes after it vanished from her timeline. Thousands of people have shared her repost of Kasim Khan’s tweet, which is still accessible on her page.

Since PTI has lost its lawsuit to utilize the legendary “bat” as its electoral emblem, Jemima and Kasim have only shared images of PTI flags. Presently, thousands of PTI candidates are running under different electoral symbols as independents. On December 22, the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) officially canceled the bat emblem of the PTI, citing the party’s failure to conduct intra-party elections as mandated by law. As a result, the party lost its right to use a symbol in the elections of 2024.

A phony X account that was created in her son’s name last week to aid the PTI’s election campaign was previously criticized by Jemima.

It has been verified that Kasim Khan has created his real account. Jemima, who was married to former prime minister Imran Khan for around 20 years, requested her fans to report the false account.

Although Kasim Khan seems to have just joined the social media site, Jemima has previously stated that her sons are not on X or any other platform.

In order to avoid getting into political disputes, Jemima has previously declared that she doesn’t need politics in her life and steers clear of talking about or engaging in political issues.
