Jos Buttler will miss Pakistan's third Twenty20 match due to childbirth

Prior to Tuesday’s game in Cardiff, the England squad announced that skipper Jos Buttler will miss their third Twenty20 International against Pakistan due to the birth of his third child.

After leading England to a 23-run victory at Edgbaston on Saturday, which gave them a 1-0 lead in the four-match series after the first game in Leeds washed out, Buttler has returned home to be with his wife.

According to a statement from England Cricket, Jos Buttler will miss our third Twenty20 match against Pakistan since his wife Louise is due to give birth to their third child.

In Buttler’s absence, all-rounder Moeen Ali will lead England as captain. The squad did not disclose whether Buttler would be back in time to participate in Thursday’s series finale at The Oval.

In the second Twenty20 International, Buttler, 33, produced a captain’s knock, hitting eight fours and three sixes on route to scoring 84 runs on 51 balls. In the process, he became just the sixth player in the shorter format of cricket to reach 3,000 runs in Twenty20 international cricket.

The weather in Cardiff after Leeds is currently showering off and on, but it should clear up two hours before the evening play.

In the meantime, Pakistan has to win today’s game badly to avoid losing the series.

For this important encounter, Pakistan may make two changes to their playing eleven. All-rounders Shadab Khan and Saim Ayub will probably be omitted, and Usman Khan, Abrar Ahmed, or Naseem Shah may be selected in their place.
