Soccer players with global fame such as Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo are considered among the greatest. Millions of people follow them on social media as well.
But in terms of social media presence, a new player has entered the fray and is rumored to be hanging out with the two athletes.
Former New Zealand cricketer Ross Taylor described Virat Kohli as having a large fan base and compared the Indian to worldwide superstars like Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo.
Taylor stated, “Players are putting outposts endorsing products and things like that,” during an appearance on the podcast 180 Not Out. In 2008, who would have guessed that? Someone like Virat Kohli, a global sports sensation as well as a superstar in the cricket world. He is on par with Messi and Ronaldo when it comes to Instagram and social media!
Taylor continued, “Yeah, I think you are more accessible; I don’t think sportsmen are just as critiqued.” Taylor played in 236 ODIs and 112 Tests. Social media has put politicians, movie stars, and Bollywood stars under intense scrutiny these days, but I don’t think that’s a bad thing.
The 35-year-old Kohli made a spectacular start for Royal Challengers Bengaluru at the wicket. With a strike rate of 154.70, he scored 741 runs at an average of 61.75. He scored 38 sixes and 62 fours.
