Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Friday ordered the Ministry of Finance to lower the price of gasoline by Rs15.4 and high-speed diesel (HSD) by Rs7.9 per litre, in a major action meant to alleviate the public’s suffering.
The prime minister emphasized that this choice is in line with the government’s pro-people policies, according to the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO).
He said that these measures had helped to maintain economic stability and had significantly decreased inflation. The finance ministry will shortly make an official announcement in this regard.
The new rates will take effect at midnight and be in effect for the following two weeks.
The public, who have been struggling with rising fuel prices in recent months, should see a major improvement as a result of this step.
The government had announced on May 15 a much-needed two-week price drop for gasoline and HSD, of Rs. 15.39 and Rs. 7.88 per litre, respectively.
Compressed natural gas (CNG) is sometimes substituted with gasoline for use in vehicles and motorcycles, particularly in the Punjab area.
Because of its widespread use in the transportation and agricultural industries, a drop in the price of HSD is expected to have a big effect on bringing down national inflation.
