Rory, the sole child of Microsoft founder Bill Gates and his ex-wife Melinda French Gates, accompanied his mother to the White House State dinner earlier this week.
People said that Melinda, 59, went arm in arm with Rory to the celebration honoring Kenyan President William Samoei Ruto and his wife, Rachel Ruto, on his 25th birthday.
So let’s find out more about this young man who has the potential to be the CEO of Microsoft.
Rory Gates: Who is he?
“Compassionate and curious” is how Melinda has previously characterized her kid.
According to the South China Morning Post, he has a quiet life, loves puzzles, keeps his social media accounts private, and has a tight bond with his mother.
He was raised in the enormous $150 million home known as Xanadu 2.0, with his two sisters, Phoebe, who was three years younger than him, and Jennifer, who was three years older than him. He was born in Seattle, Washington.
Like his father, Rory went to the prestigious Lakeside School in Seattle. Like his mother, he then earned a bachelor’s degree in computer software engineering and economics at Duke University.
After that, he graduated with an MBA from Fuqua School of Business.
Melinda has already discussed how she raised Rory as a feminist and how he doesn’t hesitate to talk about gender equality.
In 2022, Rory completed “a double major and a master’s” at the University of Chicago in just four years.
