At a renowned occasion on Saturday, the Pakistan Army honored boxer Amir Khan with the privilege of being a Pakistan Army Captain for a day while he wore the army’s uniform.
The Pakistan Army honored the seasoned fighter in a special event, recognizing his outstanding contributions to the boxing sport and his accomplishments in the arena.
In addition to expressing his gratitude, Khan promised to open more boxing academies in Pakistan and emphasized the wealth of talent among the young people there.
He expressed hope for future triumphs in international contests like the Olympics and Commonwealth Games and urged young people to get involved in sports.
“I feel so honored to be wearing the army uniform and ranks; it reminds me so much of what it was like to be crowned a world boxing champion,” Khan said, thanking the Pakistan Army for its continuous support in advancing sports.
“I have always had a great regard for the Pakistan Army since it represents our country’s pride… “I feel so honored and secure wearing this uniform,” he continued, thanking General Asim Munir, Chief of Army Staff, for his attendance and assistance.
Aspiring athletes can learn a lot from Khan’s counsel, which emphasized the value of hard work, dedication, and confidence in reaching success in any endeavor.
With a stellar 34-6 career record that included five successful title defenses and two wins over super-lightweight world titles, the renowned boxer recently announced his retirement from professional boxing.
Aamir Khan, then 17 years old, made history at the 2004 Olympics by winning a silver medal in the lightweight boxing division, demonstrating his extraordinary talent and promise on a worldwide scale.
After the event, Khan mingled and spent time with Pakistan Army officials and soldiers, encouraging comradery and gratitude for their service.
Prior to this, Gen. Munir met with boxer Amir Khan and Mixed Martial Arts champion Shahzaib Rind, praising their exceptional accomplishments in contact sports. The army chief praised Pakistan’s young for their extraordinary potential and urged them to succeed in their chosen vocations.
