In his most recent directions, Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Ahmed Nawaz of the Karachi Traffic Police forbade issuing challans to drivers hurrying home between 5 p.m. and the time of iftar during the current Ramadan.
In order to guarantee that the people using the roads go home in time for breakfast, he gave the order for all of the traffic officers stationed across the city to maintain a smooth flow of traffic.
The DIG ordered that rather of a ticket, those who are traveling with family should be given a warning.
Rather, the traffic officers have been ordered to concentrate on one-way violations, which occasionally turn out to be the main reason for traffic jams and accidents.
At turning places, DIG Nawaz advised against parking cars, motorcycles, or rickshaws.
“Officers who do not have cameras on their bodies will not issue challans. The official said that police and traffic officers would not stand together on the roadways and would strictly enforce the fast lane near Sharea Faisal, telling motorcycle riders to stay in the by-lane.
In addition, he gave the traffic cops instructions to set aside time for car lifting, which would only be carried out in the event of double or unlawful parking. Departmental action against cops seen to be misbehaving with residents was threatened by the DIG.
