In the approaching general elections, prominent members of the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) are pleading with voters to back their party’s “lion” electoral emblem. The Sharif brothers, well-known PML-N members, are unable to vote for their party’s nominee for the National Assembly seat, which is an amusing turn of events.
The voting registrations of Nawaz Sharif, Shehbaz Sharif, and Hamza Shehbaz, all of whom are located in NA-128, are the cause of this disparity. The Istehkam-e-Pakistan (IPP) party and the PML-N have formed a seat adjustment in this constituency. As a result, the PML-N has decided not to run a candidate for the National Assembly seat in NA-128 but has instead vowed to back Aun Chaudhry, the head of the IPP, whose electoral symbol is the eagle.
The Sharif brothers are nonetheless excited to use their right to vote in spite of this agreement. They will, however, have to vote in PP-161, a separate seat, for Umar Sohail, the party’s nominee.
Regarding their personal electoral goals, Nawaz Sharif is running from two NA seats: NA-130 Lahore and NA-15 Mansehra. In a similar vein, Shehbaz Sharif has entered the race for NA-123 and NA-132, and his PML-N counterpart Hamza Shehbaz Sharif is running for NA-118 Lahore.
The Election Commission has painstakingly planned and coordinated the administrative aspects of the voting process. The four provinces of the nation have a combined total of 90,675 voting places. In addition, a sizable field of 5,121 candidates is vying for seats in the National Assembly in the next elections.
