Niaz Criticizes Nawaz Basit Targets Hesson

Niaz Reveals Concerns Over Nawaz, Abrar’s Selection; Basit Ali Calls for Hesson’s Exit

Karachi — Former cricketer Niaz made startling claims during the talk show Khabar on Monday, raising questions over Pakistan’s recent team management decisions.

According to Niaz, all-rounder Mohammad Nawaz’s bowling action is currently under scrutiny, which is why captain Salman Ali Agha and the coaching staff avoided using him frequently in the recent tournament.

“They deliberately benched Abrar Ahmed for Sufyan Muqeem initially just to accommodate Shadab Khan,” he said, adding that playing Abrar later in the event was a “desperate move.”

Shadab Khan, Pakistan’s vice-captain on the white-ball tour of New Zealand earlier this year, has been sidelined following shoulder surgery. The leg-spinner had been struggling with discomfort since the T20I series against Bangladesh in Dhaka back in July. Doctors eventually recommended surgery, ruling him out of the Asia Cup as well. Shadab is now focused on making a full recovery ahead of next year’s T20 World Cup.

Meanwhile, former cricketer Basit Ali aimed at Pakistan head coach Mike Hesson, demanding his removal after the team’s underwhelming performances.

During the same discussion, former chief selector Haroon Rasheed advised the PCB to establish a three-tier system to groom a stronger talent pool. He emphasized that Pakistan should back the current squad as the T20 World Cup draws near.
