Nigeria Diversity is amazing. A country located in the southeast of West Africa, Nigeria is a center for diversity, a country with a rich background in the oil industry, being one of the world’s largest oil producers. Nigeria is one of the most linguistically diverse countries in the world. With over 500 languages spoken. Nigeria does not have a centralized Native Language like most countries do. Therefore, the official language is English. English is spoken less frequently in rural areas and among people with lower education levels. Other major languages spoken include: Hausa, Yoruba, Igbo, Fulfulde, Ibibio, Kanuri, and Tiv.
Although, about 100 million Nigerians communicate in Nigerian English popularly called Pidgin English. This can be classified as a partial-centralized language. To some extent, Pidgin English neutralizes the language difference in the rural area and among people with lower educations.
The language of instruction in schools is English. In an Educational Institution, there are differences in ethnic groups, pupils/students, instructors, teachers, cleaners, gardeners do not understand each other’s native tongues. Definitely English is the only way to communicate. Also, the language in the workplace is English. In a particular workplace, there are differences in ethnic groups. Automatically, English is the way to communicate. More than average numbers of Nigerians speak Good English without a funny accent. The English Language is a compulsory subject/course from elementary school up to higher education in Nigeria.
