Two terrorists were neutralized in an intelligence-based operation (IBO) conducted in the North Waziristan district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, as reported by the military’s media affairs wing on Tuesday.
The Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) in a statement said that security forces launched the operation following intelligence reports of terrorist presence in the area.
“During the operation, a fierce exchange of fire occurred between security forces and terrorists, resulting in the elimination of two terrorists, including terrorist leader Ayubullah Mansoor,” the ISPR stated.
The operation also led to the recovery of weapons, ammunition, and explosives from the militants, who were involved in various terrorist activities, including targeted killings, extortion, and abduction of civilians.
Additionally, the area is being sanitized to ensure the elimination of any remaining terrorists. Residents have lauded the operation and pledged their support to eradicate terrorism.
This development follows a recent attack on a police station in Dera Ismail Khan, where 10 police officials were martyred and six others injured. The attack underscores the escalating violence ahead of the upcoming general elections.
Earlier, the ISPR reported the killing of 24 terrorists in firefights and clearance operations in Balochistan’s Mach and Kolpur towns over three days. These operations thwarted coordinated attacks by terrorists using rockets and sophisticated weapons, targeting establishments in the area.
