DHOFAR – The Omani government has announced plans to create 600 new jobs in the Dhofar region as part of efforts to support local employment.
This follows several field visits by Dr Mahad bin Said Ba’awin, Oman’s Minister of Labour, to private companies in the area. The goal is to build strong partnerships that help Omani citizens find stable jobs.
Officials said that:
150 jobs will be created at the Port of Salalah by the end of 2025.
450 jobs will come from Nama Dhofar Services and its smaller companies.
During the Minister’s visit to the Port of Salalah, certificates were given to people who completed the Tamkeen programme, which trains Omanis to enter the workforce.
At Nama Dhofar Services, the team checked the control center and reviewed a Leadership Formation programme, which helps Omani workers get ready for future leadership roles.
A new agreement was also signed between the Labour Directorate of Dhofar and Nama Dhofar Services to work together on training and job creation.
Nasser bin Salem al Hadhrami, Director General of Labour in Dhofar, said this project will build a strong local workforce and help young Omanis prepare for the job market.
